Recreational Pilot's Licence
Recreational Pilot's Licence
Learning to fly is one of those skills you really should learn properly.
Our course may not be the cheapest or fastest way to get a pilot licence. It is however a truly standards based syllabus and covers much more than the minimum CASA requirements. At Five Point Aviation we believe our students should learn all the aspects of flying an aircraft that are crucial to ensuring they graduate with the skills needed to avoid dangerous situations, and deal with an emergency or abnormal situation should it arise.
You will train from the outset in a tailwheel aircraft so on obtaining Recreational Pilots Licence you will also be awarded a tailwheel undercarriage endorsement!
Our course starts with the fundamentals of flight, depending on how you go you may even loop and roll the aircraft on your very first lesson – effects of controls.
From here you will cover the following lessons and be provided with thorough briefing notes and pre and post flight briefings from your instructor. Having completed the lessons and some self-study you will then be required to complete a short verbal exam with your instructor before being sent on your first solo flight!
- Effects of controls
- Straight and level flight
- Climbing and descending
- Undesired aircraft state recovery, i.e Stalls
- Circuits – learn the art of takeoffs and landings
- Circuit emergencies, simulated engine failures
The next phase focuses on developing the more advanced skills such as spin recoveries that are required to become a confident aviator.
Upon successful completion of the recreational pilot’s licence you will be able to take friends and family flying within 25nm of the departure airport. You can stop here and enjoy the ride or continue to build your knowledge and ability by undertaking navigation training for a Private Pilot’s Licence or by completing an Aerobatic rating.
